What BeatRadar shares
To build a public tempo library, the app sends the titles, artists and tempos (BPM) of songs it hears, and their audio fingerprints: hashes of pairs of sound peaks from which audio, words or voices cannot be rebuilt. Fingerprints are also sent for songs without a name, so a name another listener found can be suggested to you later; those are deleted after 30 days. Audio and recordings never leave your phone. Turn this off any time with Contribute to the Library in Settings.
Uploads are tied to a random install id, not to you. When you sign in, they are linked to your account. To tell contributions from different networks apart, we store a salted hash of part of your IP address, never the address.
Accounts
With an account we store your email address (or Google account id), a password hash, your public nickname, your favourites (♥) and a backup of your song log. Your nickname and beats appear on leaderboards unless you hide yourself in Settings. Your email is never shown to anyone.
Deleting your data
Delete your account in the app (Settings → Account) or on the account deletion page. This removes your account, favourites, log backup, badges and sign-ins. Songs and tempos you contributed stay in the library as anonymous data.
Services we use
Song links and artwork are looked up with Spotify, Apple (iTunes Search) and Odesli using only a song's title and artist. Google sign-in is verified with Google. Tips are handled entirely by Google Play.
